The Guardian

Silver Spring, MD
The Guardian project involved a complex adaptive reuse of the former six-story, 1950s-era office building at 8605 Cameron Street into a modern, 11-story mixed-use residential complex. The project, led by Guardian Building Associates as the developer, involved stripping the existing structure down to its steel frame and adding a five-story vertical addition plus a penthouse. The building's Art Deco-inspired aesthetic was designed by Nelson Architects, and the construction firm involved in the conversion was ReVite Construction. This effort successfully transformed an underutilized office property into 178 apartment units and ground-floor retail space.
